A truly modern design illustrating how to integrate a large family home into a rural landscape and build on a sloping site. An architecture of flat overhanging roofs, planar walls and large areas of glazing provided the means to modulate the scale and massing of the house and provide a low lying discreet profile to the road. The upper ground floor contains all the living spaces and takes full advantage of panoramic views of the Mourne mountains, the lower ground floor accommodates the bedrooms and storage room. The garage building contains a home office suite and together with the stone walls form a sequence of external spaces clearly defining forecourt, entrance and garden. This project was completed in collaboration with Neil Darby Architect.
